Scandal at Gymnastics Floor Finals at Paris!!

This is the Daughter of Athena once again, and this time it's not even closely about books.

Yesterday, 5th August 2024, was the last event of Artistic gymnastics at the Paris Olympics.

Nine women had qualified: Simone Biles, Rebeca Andrade, Jordan Chiles, Rina Kishi,  Sabrina Maneca-Voinea, Alice D'Amato, Manila Esposito, Ou Yushan and Ana Barbosu, not in that order, though.

I've been recording all the finals to write articles, and this one would have ideally been last, but nope. This is a tragedy in gymnastics that needs to be spread to as many fans as possible.

The first person to perform was Manila Esposito, who finished her first pass on her knees and stepped outside on her second. She finished last.

She was followed by Rebeca Andrade, who had a pretty good score of 14.166.

The third contestant was Ou Yushan, who performed very well, followed by Rina Kishi. Both of them had excellent performances. But they were scored extremely low in execution for reasons known only to the stupid judges. Kishi Rina scored a 13.166 total with a high difficulty level for a gymnast who was not expected to medal.

These disappointing results were followed by dazzling performances by Ana Barbosu and Alice D'Amato, who scored average if not lower than they should have.

Then it was Simone Biles on the floor, and she stepped outside on her double double as well as on her double layout, but stuck the landing on her Biles 1. Seeing that, it was not so very unfair that she got a lower execution score than usual, but nevertheless unexpected. She took the second spot behind Andrade followed by Ana Barbosu.

And then came the legendary floor routine. Sabrina Maneca-Voinea performed an INCREDIBLE FLOOR ROUTINE with four dazzling passes including a double double and a full twisting double tuck, with no steps outside and amazing execution. Her routine was scored in fourth place behind Ana Barbosu with a 13.700 total and an execution score in the sevens. When asked for a review, the committee did not hesitate even three seconds to reply 'score unchanged.' She was so disappointed when she saw her score because she had expected a great one, and rightly, after her incredible floor routine following her beam fail, where her routine was a medalling one, but she fell off twice.

And the last and most outrageous case was Jordan Chiles. She was last and only performed three passes, scoring fifth or sixth place. And as they began announcing the winners, her name was announced as third place winner after Biles, with Barbosu shoved into fourth. Her score was changed at the last minute.

If you are a gymnastics fan, send this link to as many others as possible and post it in the comments of videos. This extremely sad incident should get around and the scores must be challenged at least informally by the public.

An honest gymnastics fan,
